This is the back of the digipack it has all the codes and conventions for example copyright information, bar code and the name of the songs that are on the CD. It looks the names of the songs are on the side of the large Gothic door. There are representations of light and dark it looks like it is night time but there is also the moonlight coming from the top right corner with dark black clouds surrounding it creating a moody dark feeling. The names of the songs have been positioned like a scroll with old traditional typograpghy being held in place by a curving line.
This front cover has a very Gothic and dark feeling which represents the type of music Evanescence plays. The left side of the cover is light where there is a lady standing in a large doorway looking over her shoulder at the viewer as if to say 'goodbye' or 'follow me' because she is about to walk through it. The light could represent happiness and the future. The dark side of the cover could represent her past that she is trying to get away from. The image and name of the album are very clear and relate to make it easy to under stand 'The open door'. She is wearing a white long dress which looks like a wedding dress, but white represents innocence, purity and peace.
The typography is also Gothic with a nice decorative pattern surrounding it, the writing has been placed on the right with a dark background to highlight and make the name of the album and artist noticeable.
Again on the inside cover the typography is Gothic but a lot larger and is the main focus. There is a lot of empathise on the 'O' and the shape around the writing which is also a circle that links in with the moon. There is a moth like insect which could represent something that's not wanted and quite creepy, by this i mean insects such a moths and spiders can creep people out and make them feel itchy and uncomfortable. There are sharp looking vines swirling their way around the writing witch look like they are growing over it. In the corners are four decorative dark spaces.
this should be done by now!
